How to get there:Sasrét lies nestled among the gently rolling hills of the Zselic region, on the border of Baranya and Somogy counties. Located 55 kilometres from Pécs, Sasrét Guesthouse is accessible via a 4 kilometre sealed road connecting to route 67.
Region:The buildings of the youth hostel are found in a long valley among the Zselic hills. The stone building was built as a school by baron Rezső Biedermann for the children of his eployees. This building also houses the forestry school as well as a 12 person capacity bedroom, kitchen and washrooms. Adjacent to the main building are two newly built log cabins, which sleep a total of 24 people. Baron Biedermann's legacy is the little forest rail, which connects Almamellék with Sasrét and operates to this day. Exhibits of the surrounding flora and fauna together with early 20th century forestry management is found in the Forest Rail Museum housed within the Almamellék railway station building. The adjacent ancient beech forest of some 200 years is the county's oldest forest and is made all the more interesting by the educational paths and springs located within it. There are numerous possibilities for things to do and see in the surrounding settlements: horse riding, fishing, Pipe Museum at Ibafa, the village museum at Szenna, Zrínyi Castle at Szigetvár, various thermal springs and pools within a 25 kilometre radius.
